ABQ at ANAM

The Australian Brass Quintet are delighted to announce an upcoming residency at the Australian National Academy of Music as part of the 2010 season.
In addition to their performance on Sunday October 24th, 5pm, South Melbourne Town Hall, they will also work with outstanding students from around the country.  This will take place as part of a four-day intensive period comprising lessons, workshops, and masterclasses, where the ABQ will also be joined by Mr. Barry Tuckwell and Geoff Viking Lierse.  The dates for this ANAM brass program are Friday October 22 - Monday October 25, 2010.

Perth Tour March 1 - 6, 2010

Plans for the Australian Brass Quintet's Perth project are well under way. With only weeks until the ABQ touch down in the west, final touches are being made to a busy week.

A mini residency at Perth's Wesley College, masterclasses at The University of Western Australia, and a week of rehearsals at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts culminating in a 'side by side' performance with students are all scheduled.

A triumphant return to the Soft Soft Loud festival held in the beautiful courtyard of Fremantle's Arts Centre is one of the highlights of the week, for more information and tickets, please visit http://www.fac.org.au/Music/soft-soft-loud.aspx

In addition to this the ABQ will be recording a recital broadcast for ABC Classic FM for broadcast at a later date, details will be released as they become available.

 

Singapore Return

The Australian Brass Quintet is back from their inaugural international tour.  A highly successful week was spent at Singapore's Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music working closely with all of the wonderful students in the Brass Department.  In addition to daily warm-ups, ensemble coaching and masterclasses, the ABQ performed three concerts throughout the week culminating in a 'side by side' performance with most of the students at YST.

Many thanks to Head of Brass, Mr. Brett Stemple and Conservatory Director, Professor Bernard Lanskey for their support during the week.

Congratulations to Iain Grandage

The Australian Brass Quintet wishes to congratulate Iain Grandage on receiving the Ian Potter Music Commision Emerging Composer Award for 2010.  Part of Iain’s award is writing a piece for the Australian Brass Quintet to be premiered at The Soft Soft Loud Festival at Fremantle Arts Centre in 2010/11
 

Perth Concert March 2010

The Australian Brass Quintet returns to Perth for an exciting week of concerts and education projects.  After a sellout triumph at the Soft Soft Loud Festival in 2009 the ABQ returns for another night of exhilarating music making.  Stay tuned for more details.
